Sarasa, cross-cultural fusion
Sarasa, a patterned cotton textile originated in India, was introduced to Japan through European traders in the late Muromachi to early Edo periods.
Being so very popular among samurai class, Japanese artisans then created a local version, wasarasa, adapting the pattern to Japanese aesthetics.
Hana sarasa is especially emphasises the dense floral patterns.
Deep indigo blues and rich oranges intertwine, a whispered dance of forgotten shores and sun-drenched gardens, where intricate floral designs and delicate geometric borders sing tales of ancient journeys and timeless beauty.
